You can update it yourself easily, and quickly
You can have other users added so you everyone can add content
Can add images by uploading them from your own pc
Add new pages for whatever you want
Add links to other sites, bring RSS feeds from news sites
Keep a track of how many people are coming to the site with the BLOG STATS page
People can leave comments for you
…too much stuff to list here

The reason I mention doing your site via a blog, is that you can control everything about it.
